Joseph Misasi of Riseley St., Town of Ulster died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Ten Broeck Commons. He was 94.
He was born in Glasco, a son of the late Michael and Theresa DeCicco Misasi. Joe graduated Saugerties High School and then worked at Hutton Brickyard. On December 13, 1941 he married Josephine Crespino.
Joe entered active duty in the US Army in 1941 and served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations until being discharged in 1945. A proud veteran, he volunteered for many years at the Castlepoint VA Hospital, was a member of the Joyce - Schirick Post 1386, V.F.W. and belonged to the Color Guard.
For many years Joe worked at the Cornell St., Kingston US Post Office. He belonged to the Kingston Volunteer Fireman's Museum and A. H. Wicks Engine & Truck Company. A parishioner of St. Joseph's Church he also volunteered at Golden Hill Health Care Facility.
Beloved husband of Josephine Crespino Misasi; loving father of Patricia Misasi - Middleman of New York City, Theresa Misasi of Kingston and Joseph A. Misasi of Kingston; brother of Rose Risimini of Pleasant Valley, Josephine Palumbo of Poughkeepsie, Lillian Knapp of Kingston, Julia Contini of Saugerties, Theresa Mauro of Glasco, Mike Misasi of Town of Ulster, Frank Misasi of Town of Ulster, Geri Crowder of Glasco, Jeanne Crowley of Saugerties, Janet Shanley of Poughkeepsie and the late Mary Sottile; grandfather of Joseph and Joel Misasi, Gina Benson and Jamie Stanley; great grandfather of Liliana Benson, Sofia, Lucia, Rita and Jane Misasi, Saul and Leonard Stanley, uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment, with miliary honors by Joyce - Schirick Post 1386 Color Guard, will follow in Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.
