Joseph M. Clausi Sr. of Ulster Landing Road, Town of Ulster died Friday evening at Kingston Hospital. He was 82.
Born in East Kingston on April 26, 1923, he was a son of the late Gaetano and Theresa Qualtere Clausi. For many years Joe worked at Star Brick. As a salesman for McCormick & Co., Baltimore, Joe worked for 26 years. He retired in 1984.
A lifelong resident of East Kingston, on February 4, 1945 he married Thelma Burger.
A parishioner of St. Colman's Church, Joe was past president of the former St. John - St. Liberata Society. He was a member of the East Kingston Fire Department. Joe was an avid Kingston High School football and NY Yankee Fan.
Six sisters Rose Cerulli, Mary T. Nardi, Lena Pingitore, Margaret Duffy, Elvira and Clara Clausi, and three brothers Santo, Thomas Dominick and John Clausi, and one daughter in law Evie Clausi, all died previously.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 60 years, Thelma Burger Clausi, are three sons Joseph Clausi Jr. of Kingston, Richard Clausi Sr. and his wife Sue of Kingston, Robert Clausi and his wife Joan of Kingston; one daughter Teresa Clausi Plumb and her husband Gerry of Round Rock, TX; one sister Teresa Rigolino of Poughkeepsie. Twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Monday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Colman's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
