Joseph L. DeCicco of Brewster St., Kingston died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 84.
He was born in Kingston on March 15, 1924 a son of the late James and Josephine Tucci DeCicco. Mr. DeCicco was raised in East Kingston. He married Angelina Pagliaro on January 26, 1947.
A US Army veteran of WW II, he served in the European Theater of Operations with the rank of Corporal, 58th Armored Infantry Battalion. He belonged to the V.F.W. Joyce - Schirick Post 1386.
Mr. DeCicco previously worked at Pilgrim Furniture, Electrol and Island Dock. In the late 1950's he began a career at I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie and then Kingston. A member of the Quarter Century Club, he retired in 1983.
A parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Mr. DeCicco was an usher.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 61 years, Angelina Pagliaro DeCicco; one son Dennis R. DeCicco and his wife Lynne of Aurora, Colorado; one daughter Carol A. DeCicco of Kingston; one sister Margaret Weeks of Kingston; 2 grandsons Nickolas J. DeCicco and Joseph R. DeCicco; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Four sisters Mary Lawrence, Erma DeLuca, Rose DeCicco and Fannie Pagliaro, four brothers Louis "G.G.", Michael, John and Charles DeCicco all died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral procession will form on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
