Joseph J. Dyer, Jr. of Columbia St., Town of Ulster died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 52.
He was born in Kingston on March 29, 1957, a son of Anna Marie Brown Dyer and the late Joseph J. Dyer Sr. A Kingston High School graduate, class of '75, Joe worked for various tree-cutting firms. He also owned and operated "J.D. Tree Service" for a couple years.
A member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 825, for the past eight years he worked at Northeast Solite Corporation, Saugerties as a mechanic.
Joe was a member of the Ruby Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed blackpowder gun shooting. He was a former member of the Ulster Hose #5 Fire Department and was a certified diver and first aid provider.
Surviving, in addition to his mother Anna Marie Dyer of the Town of Ulster, are one daughter Amanda Weidner, San Diego, CA; one son Travis Dyer of Town of Ulster; three sisters Ann Marie Colbert and her husband Patrick of Lake Katrine, Patricia Reilly and her husband Vincent of Lake Katrine and Joan Stopczynski and her husband Joseph of Port Ewen; one granddaughter Abigail Weidner, three nephews Michael and Joseph Stopczynski and Kyle Reilly, two nieces Melissa Ramirez and Kellene Rifenburgh; two great nieces Chloe and Jaden Ramirez and one great nephew Reilly Rifenburgh.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 12:00, Rev. David Brechter will officiate. Cremation will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Inurnment will be in Mt. Marion Cemetery at a later date.
