Joseph Horowitz 97 of Kingston NY and Delray Beach Florida died Sunday, May 16 at home, surrounded by love.
Born in Brooklyn, son of Jake and Lillian Horowitz. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Navy as a signalman and navy aviator. Here was where his lifelong love of flying was born, eventually flying for pleasure as well as flight instruction and charter. He moved to the Hudson Valley in the late 40’s to join his family business, J and A Roofing which he has now handed to its 4th generation. He lived his life to the fullest, working, flying, skiing, golfing, and tennis, as well as his winters in Florida. He never missed a chance to laugh, sing, or dance.
He is predeceased by his wife, Ann (Head) Horowitz, his brother Alfred Horowitz, and his sister Anna Kligerman, and a granddaughter, Leia LaTorre.
He is survived by his sister Betty Blake, his children Ian (Eva) Horowitz, Fredric (Linda) Horowitz, Ellen (Rick) Peruso and Jan Noto, grandchildren, Nate (Samantha) Horowitz, Meg (Tom) Petersen, Benjamin Rosenthal, Amelia (Ryan) Braden, Derek Horowitz and step grandchildren Ricky and Nicole Peruso and Austin Koo, great grandchildren: Landon, Beckett, Emersyn, Jacob, and Madelyn. and his amazing caretakers, Monica, and Carol.
The funeral service and interment will be privately held.
