Joseph S. Hoffman

Joseph Hoffman, a longtime Germantown resident loved by many, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 48. He was born on April 21, 1974, in Hudson, NY, and was the son of Richard Hoffman and Janine Rogers.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Lisa Marie Durant in 2014.

Joe worked for more than 30 years in the construction industry, picking up general knowledge of all aspects of the trades. Turning to general contracting in recent years, he founded Young America Renovations, leading the rehabilitation of many homes and constructing new additions and buildings in the wider Germantown area. He enjoyed the challenge of renovating older homes and gained a reputation for fairness, honesty and high-quality work. He played a significant role in the surging revival of homes in the area.

Joe loved the outdoors. He was an avid camper and enjoyed spending the day hiking and fishing with his two sons, Lucas and Evan. He was a longtime active member of the Germantown Sportsmen’s Association. Joe was genuine, kind and pure-hearted and was quick to support anyone in a situation of need. His energy will be missed deeply by many, but his character, integrity and warmth live on in his two teenage sons and in the influence he had on the world around him.

He is survived by his mother Janine Rogers (Stephen Ignizio) of Germantown, NY, father Richard Hoffman (Stacy Dwy) of Elizaville, NY, his paternal grandmother Virginia Hoffman of FL, his two sons, Lucas and Evan Hoffman of Germantown, NY, sister Kathleen Anderson of Germantown, NY, sister Stacey Anderson (Reagan) of Clermont, NY, sister Rachel Devens (Michael) of Hyde Park, NY, aunts, uncles, several cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401.  A celebration of life will take place at the Reformed Church of Germantown, 20 Church Ave., Germantown, NY 12526, where family and friends may gather and visit, on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 12pm to 1pm.
