Joseph D. Polito, Sr.

Joseph D. Polito, Sr., 81, of the Town of Ulster, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at home. He was born February 24, 1933 in The Bronx to the late Nicholas Polito Sr. and Josephine (Carcione) Polito. He was married to his wife of 60 years, Janet (LaRosa) Polito. They wed on August 13, 1955.


Joe was a Diesel Mechanic for the NYC Transit Authority for many years. He later worked as a Court Officer for the Town of Ulster. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, a member of Shriners International and Kingston Lodge No. 10 F. & A. M. He enjoyed hunting in the Catskills.


In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, Joseph Polito, Jr., and James (Donna) Polito, his granddaughters, Nicole, Ashley, and Kristen Polito, his great granddaughter, Taylor Habernig, his brothers, Michael and Nicholas Polito, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Nicholas Polito.


Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Friday January 9th from 3pm to 7pm. The funeral service will take place at 10am on Saturday January 10th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
