Joseph D. Aivaz

Joseph D. Aivaz of Port Ewen died Sunday, Dec., 23, 2012 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 77.
He was born Nov. 3, 1935 in the Bronx, a son of the late Michael and Mary Wagner Aivaz.
Mr. Aivaz was retired from the Air Force as a captain, serving in Korea and Viet Nam. Following his military service, he was employed as a systems analyst for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY. He had been a resident of Toms River, NJ for many years. He received his US Coast Guard Master's License and enjoyed sailing up and down the Atlantic coast. He also enjoyed computers.
Surviving is his wife, Stephanie Zimmer Aivaz; two daughters, Captain Susan Schindler, USMC Ret. Of Fredericksburg, VA; Faun Elzein of Charlotte, NC; two sons, Mark Aivaz of Lancaster, SC; David Aivaz of Poughkeepsie, NY; two step-daughters, Donna Marie Boonjamalik of Beacon, NY; Bridget Boucher of Hyde Park, NY and a step-son, Neal S. Falcone of Wake Forest, NC. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. Entrusted to the care of Paul Geary of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, NY.
