Joseph Cacopardo, Jr. of Country Lane, Lake Katrine died Monday, November 26, 2007 at Benedictine Hospital following a battle with ALS. He was 72.
He was born March 17, 1935 in Johnstown, a son of the late Giuseppe and Carmela D'Antonino Cacopardo.
Mr. Cacopardo played football and basketball for Johnstown H.S. and graduated from Utica Tech.
He retired from IBM in Kingston as a Senior Lab Technician in 1992 following 37 years of service. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, enjoyed outings with friends to Monticello Raceway and Atlantic City. He also played softball for many years in the IBM Recreation League.
Following retirement, he worked seasonally for Hallmark Cards and as a driver for Custom Dental Labs in Kingston and for Ulster-Greene ARC for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Delores DeSantis Cacopardo whom he married on January 27, 1957, three daughters, Sharon Potter of West Hurley, Lori Cacopardo of Lake Katrine and Jodi Stokdal and her husband Kaare of Kingston. Five grandchildren, Kyle Woerner, Leah Woerner, Kaare Stokdal, Karissa Stokdal, Brooke Potter and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A brother, Santo Cacopardo died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Avenue, Kingston on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 pm. A funeral procession will form on Thursday at 11:00 am from the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon in St. Catherine Laboure Church in Lake Katrine. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
