Joseph C. Esposito of West Chestnut St., Kingston died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at his home after a long illness. He was 79.
A native and lifelong Kingston resident, he was born on March 19, 1930, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine Gabrielle Esposito. He was a graduate of the Kingston High School, class of 1947.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflicts in the Quartermaster Corps. Mr. Esposito attained the rank of Sergeant. He married Joan Ballard on October 24, 1954.
A lifelong Kingston City businessman, he was first associated with his brother at Esposito Footwear. He then owned and operated Esposito Shoe Repair, Broadway for many years until retirement 17 years ago. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Joan Ballard Esposito, and two daughters, Regina Gibson of Syracuse and Linda Fronsdahl and her husband Dwight of Groton, MA, four grandchildren Jessica and Meaghan Griser of Colorado, Scott and Nicole Fronsdale of Massachessets, one great grandson Dakota James Griser; many nieces and nephews.
Four brothers, Peter, Edward J., Orlando N. and Carlo J. Esposito died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
