Joseph Bruno, 78, of Twin Ponds Dr., Kingston died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Kingston Hospital.
Mr. Bruno, together with his father, operated the former Bruno's American-Italian Restaurant on North Front St., Kingston.
He immigrated from Italy to the United States on June 15, 1939. He served with the US Merchant Marines.
Born February 12, 1927 in Calabria, Italy, he was a son of the late Eugene and Mary Carpino Bruno and stepson of the late Mary Naccarato Bruno.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Ruth Froehlich; his children Gene Bruno and his wife April of Wilton, NY, Anthony Bruno and his wife Deborah of Louisville, Kentucky, Louis Bruno and his wife Gina of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Eleanora 'Nora' Bruno of Thousand Oaks, California; and Ronald Bruno of Corte Modera, California; a dear friend of Heidi Froehlich of New York City; his sisters Rose Morris and her husband Nicholas of Kingston, and Louise Bruno of Setauket; his grandchildren Joseph and Justina Bruno and Stephanie Burns and three nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday 2-4 and 6-9. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church at 10:00 AM. A committal service will follow at Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum. A private inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.
