Joseph A. Carcaramo, Sr., 89, of Kingston, NY, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at The Golden Hill Health Care Center, Kingston, NY. He was born February 28, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Domenico A. F. and Philomina DeVincenzo Carcaramo.
He was married in 1960 to Preziosa Bavo Carcaramo who passed away 2001.
He graduated in 1939 from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn and then went on to own and operate the Hill Top Farm in Sawkill, NY.
After his farming career Joseph retired from the NYS Dept. of Transportation
Joseph was a leader for 4H Boys and Girls Club in 1944, a founding and charter member of the Sawkill Fire Company. He also served for many years as the Town of Kingston Highway Superintendent and Town Assessor. He was also president and treasurer of The Grange Farmers Association. His family worships at St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church in Lake Katrine, NY.
Joseph is survived by his children Joseph A. Carcaramo Jr. of Woodstock, Paul V. Carcaramo of Lake Katrine, Wanda Sochinski of Kingston and Leonard J. Carcaramo of Kingston. Grandchildren, Paul D. Carcaramo of Hopewell Jct., Emily Carcaramo of Rifton, Vincent Carcaramo of Kingston, Jacqueline Carcaramo of Port Ewen, Anthony Carcaramo of Kingston, Leonard Carcaramo Jr. of Kingston and Matthew James Sochinski of Kingston, sisters, Teresa DeCrestino of Long Island, Anne Davies of Kingston and Elenore Buchanan of Bloomington.
He is predeceased by his brothers Eugene and Anthony, as well as a sister Catherine.
Entrusted to the care of the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, NY 12401, where services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
Friends may call on Friday from 1 - 3 & 6 - 9 pm at the funeral home.
