Jonathan Oseas, 91, of Hurley, died Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Northern Dutchess Hospital.
Born in New York City, he was a son of the late Israel & Hilda Nathanson Oseas.
Jonathan had a career in electronic engineering. Jonathan’s career took the couple and their four children around the country from Seneca Falls to California to New Jersey, where he worked for RCA and was involved with the computer that monitored the presence of Russian Missiles in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Along with his wife they started an antique business and he helped out on the side and his specialty was antique tools. Following a position at IBM in Yorktown Heights in 1969 he was transferred to the Kingston Plant and the family, coming full circle, bought the stone house in Hurley. He traveled the world with work and then retired for pleasure. He was considered Mr. Fix It by many, and always welcomed the challenge. Jon lived life to the fullest, was smart, funny, and touched many lives.
Jonathan is survived by his wife of 70 years, Iris Lipskar Oseas of Hurley, a daughter, Leah Cullen and her husband, Edward of Pawtucket, RI, a son, David Oseas of Kingston, a daughter, Miriam Gibbons and her husband, John of Kingston, six grandchildren, Rebecca Cuellar, Zachary Gibbons, Dare Oseas, Alexandra Gibbons, Rue Duprass and Isaac Oseas, three great grandchildren, Lilian, Sofia and Penelope.
In addition to his parents, Jonathan was predeceased by a son, Seth Oseas.
The family will receive friends at the Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The committal service will be privately held in Hurley Cemetery.
