John W. Clark, Sr., 84, of Tilden Street, Port Ewen, passed peacefully Saturday evening at the Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus, Kingston, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 20, 1929 in Port Ewen, the son of the late William and Florence Green Clark.
He was the husband of Barbara Van Kleeck Clark, they wed July 29, 1961. John was a
graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1946 and he served in the US Army from 1951 - 1953.
John owned and operated his family business, William H. Clark & Son Plumbing & Heating for many years until his retirement.
John loved the outdoors and the Hudson River, he had been an avid skier, and had been a member of the Trail Sweepers, he also enjoyed power boating, sailing and fly fishing.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Van Kleeck Clark, his children John W. Clark, Jr. and his wife Carol Smith, Kimberly A. Houston and her husband Benjamin Houston and Kristy C. Woodall and her husband Claiborne Woodall, grandchildren Johnathan Clark, Katie and Kara Houston, Anna and Grayson Woodall, a sister Florence Sickler and her husband Philip, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Barbara Spinnenweber.
The Memorial service will be at the Wiltwyck Cemetery Mausoleum on Thursday at 11:00 am
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Riverkeeper, 20 Secor Road, Ossining, NY 10562.
