John V. Grube of Lake View Ave., Town of Ulster died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. He was 90.
He was born in Kingston, the son of the late Henry and Margaret Grossenbeck Grube. A Kingston High School graduate, John served in the US Army during WW II in the European Theatre of Operations. He married Mary Santa Amato on September 14, 1946 in St. Joseph's Church, Kingston.
Mr. Grube previously worked at Hercules Powder Plant, Port Ewen. For 28 years he was employed at I.B.M., Kingston as a Power Supply Builder. He retired in 1983 and belonged to the Quarter Century Club.
A member of Kingston Post #150, American Legion, Mr. Grube was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. He was an avid bowler.
His wife, Mary Amato Grube died Decemebr 7, 2001; two brothers Francis J. and John Grube, three sisters Margaret Nagy, Winifred Krum and Ann Gildersleeve all died previously.
Surviving are his son John Gerard Grube and his wife Mary Elizabeth of Town of Ulster, one grandson Justin Grube, one granddaughter Danielle Grube, one great grandson Shane Ryan Page, many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Kingston Post #150 American Legion will conduct a ritual on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
The funeral procession will form on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Frank Damis will celebrate. Interment, with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386, V.F.W., will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
