John Thompson Copper, 72, of Woodstock, NY, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at The Albany Medical Center. He was born February 1, 1938 in Waynesboro, Virginia to the late William Thomas and Elizabeth deVignier Copper.
He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963.
He attended St. Christophers High School in Richmond Va. and then went on to the University of Richmond before moving to New York City and attending the Julliard School of Music, while working various jobs.
John later moved to Woodstock and opened the John Thompson Design Group where he designed and created hand woven rugs. He later went on to design custom pottery, vases and lamps. He loved to design and maintain his own landscape on his property with the help of John Klippel. He also enjoyed cooking.
John is survived by his brother William Thomas Copper II and his wife Martha of Victorville, CA, a sister Helen D. Copper of Long Island and John D Klippel of Bloomington, as well as his beloved Beagle "Tracker".
In addition to his parents John is predeceased by a brother R. Arnold Copper formerly of New York City.
Entrusted to the care of the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, NY 12401, where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday August 4th at 7:00 pm.
