John R. Baldwin

John ''Jack'' R. Baldwin, 89, of Hardenburgh Road, Ulster Park, NY, died Monday, January 19, 2009 at Kingston Hospital. He was born August 22, 1919 in Long Branch, NJ to the late John A. and Vera Guterl Baldwin. He graduated Park Ridge High School, attended the University of Iowa, and continued his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. He served in the US Army during WW II in Pacific Theater of Operations. He had worked for several oil companies, at first working in South America and then in Canada where he was responsible for establishing new gas stations across Canada. He then started his real estate company in 1971, The John R. Baldwin Agency in Harrington Park, NJ, retiring in 1992. He had been president of the Board of Realtors in Pascack Valley, NJ. He had been a member of the Northvale Memorial Post # 162, VFW . He moved to this area permanently in 1992, he loved living here, taking long walks and clearing land. He was truly a grateful person, proud of his wonderful life and his family. He leaves behind his beloved Merle, son John "Jack" Baldwin and his wife Pat of Pine Bush, granddaughter Wendy Landolina and her husband Alex of Pine Bush and their five children Joseph, Anthony, Emily, Matthew and Benjamin and a son Robert Baldwin of Arizona. Merle's children Scott Meola and his wife Tanzia and their son Mitchell, Leigh Meola and his wife Lauren and their son Derek and Dawn Meola and her partner Paul Hendersen and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Annette Baldwin and a sister Marie Lorraine Baldwin who died in infancy.Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, where services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am. Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Interment at the discretion of the family. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
