John Moriarty, 83, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Health Alliance Hospital - Mary's Ave Campus in Kingston, NY. He was born on November 14, 1940 in Springfield, MA and was the son of the late John Moriarty and Katherine O'Connor. John was married to the love of his life, Jacquelyn Joyce Ward on August 8, 1964. John received a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts.
John worked for IBM for 32 years as: Director of International Distribution, Assistant Plant Manager, Materials Management, Production Control Manager, and Data Center Manager. He taught Macro Economics as an adjunct professor at Marist College and the Culinary Institute of America. He was a management consultant with Meritus Consulting Services where he specialized in business process improvement. He then became a business advisor with the Small Business Development Center which he retired from in 2020. He had been a member of the board of directors of the National Committee on International Trade Documentation (NCITD).
He found time to give back to the community through volunteering as being a member of the board of directors of Kingston, N.Y. Girls & Boys Club, the Mid-Hudson League of Women Voters and he was an integral part of the Kingston Uptown Farmers Market.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who loved his pets and loved to spend time outside in the garden. His home had become an extensive gallery filled with his incredible paintings and sketches of the people and places he loved. He will forever be remembered for his “Dad jokes” as he always kept us laughing even at the “Punny” ones. We will carry on the jokes Dad! It is what we Moriarty’s do!
He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn Moriarty, daughter Christine Moriarty Henning and the light of his life, his grandson John Henning. He also leaves behind his beloved niece Sarah Ward Gaer, her husband Neil Gaer, son Derek Mannix and daughter Shannon Gaer; Nephew Terry Ward and his wife Bonnie and son Terry, and nephew Erik Ward. John is preceded in death by his son, Mark Moriarty and brother Edward Moriarty.
No funeral service is planned at this time. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
