John Joseph Mavretich

John Mavretich, 74, of West Park, NY passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at home in West Park, NY. He was born on June 15, 1948 in Flushing, NY and was the son of the late John Mavretich and Viola Pettit. He graduated from Fordham University in 1970.

John served in the U.S Army from 1970-1972. After his time in the service, John moved to the Hudson Valley where he resided for over 50 years, mostly in West Park, NY. John worked as an independent consultant specializing in all aspects of Nuclear Power Utility regulations. His worked for several years as a staff member for NY Assemblyman/US Congressman Maurice Hinchey. He loved all outdoor activities such as golf, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed spending time with his many younger family members.

He is survived by his brother Robert Mavretich, sister Margaret Mavretich Walko, nephews John and Robert, nieces Kathryn Foley and Jennifer Boersma. He is also grand uncle to 18 nieces and nephews.
