John M Gaddis

John M Gaddis, 73, of EmersonStreet, Kingston, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Kingston Hospital, He was born August 5, 1936 in Kingston, to the late Myron and Marion "Sis" Ashdown Gaddis.




He was the husband of Mary Claire (Kiff) Gaddis, they wed on December 11, 1960.




Mr. Gaddis was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1954, he was in the United States Army 1958 to 1960.





Mr. Gaddis had worked for 30 years in the telephone industry, having retired from NYNEX.


John had been a member of the Kingston American Legion Post # 150, Telephone Pioneers of America, life member of Kingston Power Boat Association, Association of Bell Retirees, CWA, NRA, council of Mohawk - Hudson Yacht Clubs, Classic Chevy Club International, he was a founding member of Igniters Car Club of Kingston, he had served on the Kingston Zoning Board of Appeals and the Kingston Water Board, he was a former member of the Kingston Moose Lodge. His hobbies included boating, bowling, hunting, fishing, traveling and restoring old cars. He was an avid Yankee fan




In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Dr. Kelly Gaddis of Rhinebeck and Jeffrey Gaddis of Kingston, a grandson Sebastian Gaddis of Rhinebeck, a brother Bob Drake of CA, a sister in law Aileen DiMicco of Kingston, a nephew Scott DiMicco of Kingston and a aunt, Irene Ashdown of Kingston, many cousins and friends





Entrusted to the care of the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 pm. The service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am, at the funeral home, the Rev. Dr. Robert Gram, officiating.




The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Ulster County ASPCA, 20 Wiedy Rd, Kingston, NY 12401 or Hospice Of Ulster County, 34 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401
