John Koch

John W. Koch, 91, a lifelong resident of Kingston, NY, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023. He was born August 27, 1932 in Kingston, son of the late Gustave and Marguerite (Herrmann) Koch.

John was a graduate of Kingston High School. He married Janet (Roesler) Koch on November 22, 1953.

John was the owner and operator of Koch Plumbing and Heating in Kingston for nearly his entire working career. He was a lifetime member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Kingston where he was a former council member and property committee member.

John was a meticulous craftsman and excelled in all things mechanical. He enjoyed being outdoors and took great pride in maintaining his home and gardens. He provided loving support for his children as they established their own homes and drew on his expertise and advice.

John is survived by his children, Barbara Joscelyn and her husband Tom of Ulster Park, John E. Koch and his wife Patricia of Renton, WA, and Sandra Gorr of Trucksville, PA; his grandchildren, Amy Joscelyn, Thomas Joscelyn, Daniel Koch, Lisa Preston, and Leah Gorr; two great grandchildren, his brother, Harry Koch and his wife Ruth, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, John is predeceased by his siblings Audrey Kelse and Gus Koch.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Wednesday December 20, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday December 21, 2023 at 11am. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
