John K. Lang

John K. Lang Sr, 86, of Browning Terrace, Kingston, NY, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at Golden Hill Health Care Center, Kingston He was born March 28, 1923 in Kingston, NY to the late Kenneth and Emma (Swart) Lang.

He was the husband of Florence Kelsey Lang; they wed on March 11, 1945.

He had attended Kingston High School, and with the outbreak of WW II, he left high school to enlist in the US Marine Corp, he was awarded the Purple Heart and served in the 1st Marine Division, 5th Regiment.

John was a Dispatcher for Ulster County Fire Control for many years, after his retirement he had been a crossing guard for the Kingston Police Department.

John was a parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church, and for many years had attended the 7 am Mass
He had been a member of the American Legion Post # 150, Joyce Schirick Post # 1386 VFW and the Marine Corp League. He enjoyed horseback riding, was an avid Giants football fan. He enjoyed reading in particular history books and watching documentaries about WW II.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children John K. Lang, Jr., Coxsackie, Cheryl Brown, Seffner, FL, Karen Townsend, Ashokan, and Leonard Lang, Kingston, a brother Daryl Lang, Connelly, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Donald Lang and Beverly Dillon.

Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. Friends may call on Monday from 7 - 9 pm. The procession will form on Tuesday at 9:15 am and proceed to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church where at 10 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Burial in Montrepose Cemetery with military honors provided by Joyce Schirick Post # 1386 VFW.
