John J. Stedner, 84, of Hurley, passed away, Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Golden Hill Health Care Center in Kingston. He was born in Ellenville, a son of the late John and Isabelle Martyn Stedner. John served in the Marines during Korea. He was employed as a Production Control Analyst for IBM, Kingston, retiring after 33 years of service. He was a former member of the Cragsmoor and Hurley Fire Departments and was a founding member of the Hurley Rec. Assoc. His greatest enjoyment was hunting and fishing and just being outdoors in his two favorite places, Sam's Point and Lewey Lake in the Adirondacks. On November 14, 1954 John married Eileen Rice. Mrs. Stedner passed away on October 3, 2014. Surviving are his son John W. Stedner and his wife Cheryl of Lomontville; his daughter, Mary E. Trudeau of Holyoke, MA; two grandchildren, Victoria and Edward Trudeau, a brother, Stanley Stedner and two sisters, Bertha Smith and Elsie Lake. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Three brothers, Ralph, George and Joseph Stedner and a sister, Ella Stedner died previously. Entrusted to the care of Paul Geary of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave. Kingston where friends will be received on Sunday from 4 - 7 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, 11:00 AM.
