John J. Arold of Nicholas Ave. died Saturday, April 03, 2010 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 87. He was born in Kingston, a son of the late George F. and Laura Schulden Arold.
Raised in Kingston, he was a Nicholas Ave. resident since the 1950's. A veteran of WW II, he served with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific. He was a dispatcher for Exxon in Newburgh, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed camping and traveling, fishing and working around his home. He attended the Reservoir United Methodist Church.
Mr. Arold was married in 1947 to Mary E. Bailey who died in 1965. In 1966, he married Eleanor R. Whiting who survives at home.
Also surviving are two sons by his first wife, Gary Arold and his wife Lisa of Kingston, Brian Arold and his wife Jane of Owasco, NY; seven grandchildren, Valerie Dwyer and her husband Denis of Kingston, Ryan and Brandon Arold of Kingston; Benjamin Arold, Barney Arold , Bethany Arold and Boaz Arold all of Owasco, NY; two great-grandchildren, Molly and Andrew Dwyer; four sisters, Mary Kirby of Kingston, Ida Greenburg of Celebration, FL, Gloria Hudler of Boca Raton, FL, Cecelia Misasi of Saugerties and sister-in-law Mary Lou Arold of Kissimmee, FL. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
A brother, George Arold died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Monday, from 3 5 and 7 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 12:00 PM by Pastor Lucy Jones. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
