Johanna Sofie Ingellis

Johanna S. Ingellis, 95, a resident of The Hills, Port Ewen, NY, passed away November 15, 2015 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine, NY. She was born in Germany in 1920, immigrating to the United States in 1954, and becoming a United States Citizen. She and her husband resided in Bayside, NY for many years. She was primarily a housewife, but in her later years she became the Chef for the Sisters of Charity, at Bishop Reilly High School, Fresh Meadows, NY.


In her youth she was an avid swimmer, winning a number of swimming competitions. She enjoyed travel, reading, baking and cooking, and sports competition. She also was a member of the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary in Tupelo, Mississippi.


Predeceased by her husband Leonard P. Ingellis, she leaves behind a son, Joachim H. Ingellis and his wife Lois of Port Ewen, NY, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as relatives and friends both in Europe and the United States.


Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, NY. Services will be private. In lieu of cards, flowers, etc., the family requests that, should you wish to remember Johanna, please do so by performing a random act of kindness.
