Joan R. Trowbridge

Joan R. Trowbridge, 84, of Kingston New York, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck New York. She was born on April 15, 1930 in Queens NY to the late Elmer and Esther (Johnson) Rylance.


On August 17, 1951, she married the love of her life, the late Albert (Abe) Trowbridge. Abe and Joan had two daughters, Beth Sottile and her husband Lester of Manchester CT and Karen Thajudeen wife of the late Dr. Kamaldeen Thajudeen of Chapel Hill NC. In addition to her daughters Joan was the proud grandmother of Katherine Cima and her husband Dan, Matthew Costello and his wife Cheryl and James Cook Thajudeen and his wife Arianna and great-grandmother of Hayden Cima. Several nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends survive her. Her sisters, Jeanne Elliott and Priscilla Preuss, predecease her.


Joan was a Kingston High School graduate class of 1948. She then graduated from The Kingston Hospital School of Nursing class of 1951. Joan was an obstetrical nurse at The Kingston Hospital, helping to bring many babies into the world. She retired in 1995 after 38 years of service.



Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. Friends and family may visit on Friday from 4-7pm at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 3021 State Route 213 East, Stone Ridge NY 12484. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 11am at Christ the King. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ the King Church in Joan's honor.
