Joan Watzka Querin, 90, of Pompano Beach, FL, formerly of East Kingston and Saugerties, NY, died peacefully at her home with her daughter, Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Born in East Kingston on October13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius Watzka & Margaret Mottes. Joan was a loving aunt, mother and wife. Joan was the Kingston High School May Queen in 1944. She retired from IBM in 1960 to become a mother. She enjoyed sewing, bargain shopping, making and wearing hats and of course fun in the sun on the beaches of Ocean City, NJ and the eastern coastlines of Florida. Joan is survived by her daughter, Marga Querin of Boulder, CO and Pompano Beach FL, two nieces and four nephews and 19 grand-nieces and nephews. Her sister and brother-in-law Inez Querin Mattera and Mike Mattera in Arizona, also survive. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Louis Querin, whom she married on July 8, 1956 in East Kingston, two sisters, Margaret Watzka Astalos, who also died on February 3, 1993 and Kathryn Caprotti. Joan will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 PM at St. Colman's Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
