Joan Marilyn Williams

Joan Marilyn Williams, of Decker St.,Town of Ulster died Monday, January 14, 2013 at home. She was 80. She was born in Kingston, the daughter of the late Gilbert S. and Carrie M. Burnell Whitaker.
A graduate of Kingston High Class of 1951, she worked for the telephone company before working at M. Clifford Miller Middle School in the school lunch program for many years until her retirement.
Joan was a member of the Ulster County Stop DWI Victims Impact Panel, and a very active Member of the Fair Street Reformed Church where she sang in the Choir. Joan was a very caring person who always had a kind word for everyone she knew. She loved to play golf, go on vacations to the beach, loved animals, cooking and baking for her family. Joan had a lifelong love of the Adirondack and Lake George region as her family was originally from the North Country. A devoted mother and wife, she will be truly missed by all her friends and family. On June 7, 1953, Joan married Howard B. Williams. Howard died on 12-26-2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl D. Williams and Karen J. and her husband Robert Lynt, of Kingston. Many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her husband, a son, Howard Jay Williams and her siblings, Edward Whitaker, John Whitaker, Howard Whitaker, Robert Whitaker and Mavis Quick died previously. Entrusted to the care of Paul Geary of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 & 6 - 9 PM. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Friday at 10:00 AM and process to Fair St. Reformed Church where funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Kendra VanHouten.
