Joan Madeline Browne, 85, of Hurley, NY, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015. She was born October 18, 1930 in New Hyde Park, NY to the late John and Mary (Caronia) Brancato. She was married to Edward H. Browne, they wed on July 24, 1955.
She worked for the Kingston City School District for many years, first, in the MJM main office and later, in the High School Guidance Office. She was a member of Pins and Needles, an arts and crafts ministry at St. John's RC Church in Woodstock, NY. In addition, she volunteered on Election Day in Kingston, checking in registered voters. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church in Kingston.
She is survived by her children, Julie Riester and her husband Ralph of Spring Hill Florida, Linda Murray and her husband William Murray, Jr., of Vienna, VA and Patricia Riso and her husband Christopher of Simsbury, CT; her grandchildren, Karen, Steven, and Melissa Murray, Jennifer Riester, and Sara and Michael Riso, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward, her sister, Theresa Brancato Clark of Hurley, and her brother, Salvatore Brancato, of Gales Ferry, CT.
Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Wednesday from 5 to 7pm. The funeral procession will form on Thursday at 9am at the funeral home and proceed to St. Joseph's RC Church, 242 Wall St., Kingston where at 10am a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated. Burial will follow in Hurley Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at
