Joan B. Carter

Joan B. (Carl) Carter, 84, of Kingston, NY, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday, August 6, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born October 25, 1931 in Kingston, to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Tresaloni) Carl. She was married to the late Clyde F. Carter who passed away in 1985.


Joan was a graduate of Kingston High School. She later retired from IBM as a member of the Quarter Century Club. Joan was always a hard worker and most recently worked at Keyser & Carr Funeral Homes. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Parish in Kingston where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and participated in Devine Mercy devotions. She loved spending time with her family and her many friends.


She is survived by her children, Diane Davis and her husband Glenn, Elizabeth Straub and her husband Jack, and John C. Carter and his companion Jacqueline Pardee, her grandchildren, Claudine Straub, Michelle (Davis) Long, Michael Davis, Travis Carter, and Kaitlin Carter, her great grandchildren, Serenity, Destin, Merci, Ben, Amara, and Sean, her sister, Patti Conlon, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Helen D. Schupelack and Nicholas P. Carl.



Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Wednesday August 10th from 3pm to 7pm. The funeral procession will form on Thursday August 11th at 9:45am at the funeral home at which time the Rosary will be recited. The procession will then proceed to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church where at 11am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Kingston.
