Jessie I. Torrens, 92, of Golden Hill, formerly of Governor Clinton Apartment, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Golden Hill Health Care Center, Kingston. She was born February 26, 1919 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Robert and Minnie Burger Torrens, Sr.
She had worked at the central administration office for the Kingston City Schools for 16 years, prior to that she had worked at Forst Packing Company for 18 years.
She had been a member of the Town of Esopus United Methodist Church and had attended the St. James United Methodist Church; she had been a member of AARP, United Methodist Women of Kingston, Uptown Senior Citizens Club, the National Wildlife Federation, YWCA and NY Employees Retirement System.
She is survived by her niece Nancy Baechtle, Lake Katrine, two grand nephews, and a grand niece.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Frank Torrens.
Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral Service, Kingston. Services and burial in Montrepose Cemetery will be private.
