Jerome Francis Mills, 90, of Ringtop Road, Kingston, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus. He was born July 13, 1922 in Carbondale, PA son of the late Palmer and Geraldine Knappen Mills. Mr. Mills was a graduate of St. Rose High School in Carbondale and the Bliss Electric Technical School. He was a tabulating machine repairman for IBM prior to his service in the army during WW II. Upon being discharged, he returned to IBM where he held a number of engineering positions and was involved in several early NASA projects. He retired in the early 70's as a senior executive responsible for quality control in the Kingston IBM facility. On June 5, 1948, he married Mary Brown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Robert Mills of Turners Falls, MA; two daughters, Nancy Mills of Schenectady; Eileen Mills Connors and her husband Joseph of Ridgefield,CT. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Bryan Karpowicz of Boulder, CO; Nick Karpowicz of Munich, Germany; Kelly Connors Lee and her husband James of Newtown, CT; Michael Connors and Joey Connors both of New York City and great-grandchildren Abby and Caitlyn Lee of Newtown, CT. The family would like to thank Jerome's caregivers, Carnet and Melrose and Dr. James Corsones. Private funeral services and interment in St. Mary's Cemetery have been entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Services, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston.
