Jennifer Marie Forte

Jennifer Marie Forte, formerly of Kingston, died Thursday May 6th, 2010 in Los Angeles, CA. She was 32 years old. A Kingston High School class of '94 graduate, Jennifer received a degree with honors from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1998. Her college internship with IBM grew into full-time employment after graduation. In 2000 she was swept up by Columbia University, who sensed her skill, charisma and dedication and remained there for over 10 years. In 2004 she married her high school sweetheart, Joshua Povill. They separated in 2009, remaining friends. Not long after she followed her heart to Los Angeles, California and happily started a new chapter in her life. Introvert by nature, yet never afraid to speak her mind, Jen's life was full of spunk and passion. She cared deeply about many things including her close-knit family and dearest friends. She was a gourmet cook, sunbathing goddess, karaoke queen, jokester, and troublemaker. Her infectious humor and contagious smile could ignite a room. Her mind resonated with ideas beyond our time. Her work ethic was unsurpassed. Her kindness touched the world. She was the best friend we ever had. Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Carol Vollmer Charmello and Joseph Charmello of Ruby; father and stepmother Daniel Forte and Susan Forte of Ulster; older sister Cara Forte and fiance Mark Kilburn of Portland, Maine; younger brother Daniel Forte of Kingston; half-sister Andrea Griffith and husband Bobby Griffith of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandmother Kathern Forte of Kingston; and her former husband, Joshua Povill. She was predeceased by her grandmother and grandfather Martha and Thomas Vollmer and her grandfather John Forte. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Friday from 1:-00 5:00 PM. A candlelight memorial service will be conducted at 4:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
