Jennie Serra

Jennie M. Serra, 93, a lifelong resident of Kingston, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Ten Broeck Commons. Born in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Thomas & Susan Amato Martino. Jennie enjoyed cooking, reading, baking and spending time with her family. She and her sister Vera were well known for Italian and Wedding cookies. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. Jennie is survived by her three children, Anthony Serra, Jr., and his wife Linda of Brigantine, NJ, Linda Serra of Kingston and Julie Serra of Kingston, five siblings, Thomas Martino of Kingston, Rose Grube of Kingston, Samuel Benicase and his wife Lorraine of Kingston, Frank (Hank) Benicase and his wife Joan of Kingston and Janis Turck and her husband Nick of Kingston, four grandchildren, Kathy Morea, Corey Buboltz, Rachael Thompson and Jade Petramale, two great grandchildren, Natalia Buboltz and Zachary Cooper. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Jennie was predeceased by her husband Anthony Serra who passed in 2005, one sister, Vera Amarello, five brothers, Charles Benicase, Michael Benicase, Thomas "Pete" Benicase, James Benicase and Joseph Benicase, and one grandchild, Zachery Petramale. Jennie will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Monday at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. If anyone wishes, a memorial donation can be made to the charity of your choice.
