Jeanne Rose Maggiore

Jeanne Van Ness Maggiore, 83, of Saugerties passed Tuesday evening, May 13, 2014 at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 25, 1930 in Port Jervis and was the daughter of the late Abraham and Mary Van Ness.

Jeanne was a 1948 graduate of Kingston High School and a graduate of SUNY New Paltz. She taught 1st grade for 23 years at the Woodstock Elementary School. She liked to travel and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She was an avid reader and painted watercolors. She was a beloved wife, mother and teacher.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Albert S Maggiore, whom she married on October 28, 1951. Also surviving are children Sharon Maggiore and her partner Joan Tenchar of New Paltz, Steven Maggiore and his wife Kelly of Kingston, David Maggiore and his wife Kathie of Poughkeepsie, and Melinda Herzog and her husband Larry of Saugerties, four grandchildren Samantha Eilenberger, Ricki Maggiore, Spencer and Avery Herzog, a great granddaughter Haley Eilenberger, a brother Norman Van Ness and a sister Mary Ellen Du Bois, and many nieces and nephews.

Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, friends may call on Sunday from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8. The service will be Monday at 10:00 am at the funeral home, Rev. Charles Stickley, officiating. Burial in Mt. Marion Cemetery, Mt. Marion.
