Jeanne P. Batterson Koskie

January 2, 1952 — August 10, 2008

Jeanne P. Batterson Koskie, 56, of Carroll Street, Tillson, NY went to her eternal rest on August 10, 2008, after a lengthy illness. She was born January 2, 1952 in Yonkers, New York, to Rosalie DeFrancesco Percesepe of Hopewell Junction, NY and the late Arnold Percesepe. Jeanne died peacefully in her home, surrounded by loving family members and friends.

Jeanne was married to Edward Koskie; they wed on June 3, 2000 at St. Phillips of the Highlands, Garrison, NY. Jeanne and Ed greatly enjoyed traveling together. Their recent vacation in Montreal, Canada was especially memorable.

Jeanne was an accomplished musician and opera singer, who studied with prominent voice teachers in New York. A 1970 graduate of Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, New York, Jeanne studied French and vocal music at Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, and the University of Rennes, France. She worked as a fundraising consultant and grant writer, having held development positions at the Taconic Foundation, Riverkeeper, and the Episcopal Diocese of Albany, New York. She was a communicant at Christ the King Episcopal Church, in Stone Ridge, New York, where Jeanne served for a time as Choir Director.

Jeanne fought a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. The family expresses their gratitude to Hospice of Ulster County, and the caring health care professionals at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, New York.

Jeanne will be remembered for her fierce intelligence, her lively sense of humor, her passion for justice and fairness, her lovely soprano voice, and above all, her commitment to her family and to Jesus the Christ. A great light has gone out. Her family and friends light candles of remembrance and carry her life with us wherever we go. She will be missed, and our loss is great, but the circle of love and light that surrounds us is unbreakable and everlasting.

"And now abideth faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."

In addition to her husband and her mother she is survived by step daughters Heather Koskie, Kingston, NY, Melanie Koskie, Ulster Park, NY, step granddaughter Kiana and step grandson Cameron Marshall, brothers Gary J. Percesepe, Springfield, OH, Robert T. Percesepe, Hopewell Junction, NY, Douglas A. Percesepe, Poughkeepsie, NY, several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeanne was predeceased in death by her beloved brother Thomas A. Percesepe.

Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Stone Ridge, NY, on Friday at 10 am with the Reverend Alison Quin, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Avenue, Hastings-on Hudson, NY.
