Jeanne M. Doherty of Hurley, died in Kingston Hospital on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. She was 66.
She was born in Boston, MA on January 22, 1943, a daughter of the late John J and Elinor Rourke McDonnell.
Jeanne graduated from Waltham High School and attended Burdette College in Boston, MA. She moved to the Kingston area in 1977, from Burlington, Mass. She worked for Colonial Indemnity Insurance Company, Kingston as an Insurance Underwriter from 1978 1993.
Jeanne volunteered in Campfire Girls and Boy Scouts for over 23 years. She was a Eucharistic Minister and active parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. A Kingston Hospital Volunteer, she belonged to the Kingston Hospital Auxiliary. She served on the Board of Managers at the Hudson Valley Senior Residence. Jean was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and any team who was beating the NY Yankees.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Deacon Joseph G. "Jerry" Doherty; two sons Captain Kevin M. Doherty and his wife Stacey of Elkridge, MD and John J. "Jay" Doherty and his wife Mary of Laconia, NH; one daughter Suzanne E. Doherty of Braintree, MA; four grandchildren Katelyn E., Meaghan M., and Brigette A. Doherty, all of Laconia, NH and Quinn Doherty of New York City; many nieces and nephews.
One brother, John J. McDonnell, Jr. died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy will be offered by Fr. Damis on Friday at 3:00 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
Jeanne was a kidney transplant recipient from 1998 through 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The National Kidney Foundation 99 Troy Road Suite 200 East Greenbush, NY 12061.
