Jeanette Fuoco of Saugerties, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday January 2, 2017 in Lake Katrine at Ten Broeck Commons at the age of 89.
Jeanette was born in East Kingston, during an awful snow storm, to the late Saverio and Theresa Fuoco. She attended the Kingston High School from 1941-1945. After leaving High School Jeanette began working in a sweater factory before then moving on to IBM to work in manufacturing, for over 30 years until her retirement in 1988. She found joy in cooking and feeding her family (known for making the best meatballs of all time!). Jeanette loved children and became known as a wonderful aunt to everyone, often attending school functions and celebrations for all the children in her life. She took care of the little ones teaching them how to cook and play, but always taking that 1:00 break to watch All My Children. Jeanette enjoyed her wonderful 89 years often surrounded by family and friends. Jeanette is survived by her brothers and their wives; Louis & Rose Fuoco, Tom and Mary Ellen Fuoco, and sister-in-law Anita Fuoco. Jeanette and Mary Ellen became especially close over the past several years when Jeanette lived next door, then moved in with her and Tom in Saugerties. Jeanette is survived by several nieces and nephews: Louis (Cindy) Fuoco, Brian (Michelle) Fuoco, Deborah Fuoco, Michael (Maureen) Fuoco, Joe Fuoco, Anthony Fuoco, Kim Fuoco, Denise Chaffin, Oneikka Jacobs, cousins, Anthony Canora (Diane), Frank Tiano, Anthony Tiano and Palma Tiano (Russell) and several great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved very much. She also has several cousins and many friends who will mourn her loss.
She was predeceased by her parents Saverio and Theresa (Morello) Fuoco, sisters Lorraine and Baby Jeanette Fuoco and brothers Michael, Tony, Sam, Richard, Ralph Fuoco, nephew Richard Fuoco and great niece, Courtney Fuoco.
Jeanette will be reposing at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave, on Friday, January 6, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Saturday at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Robert Bubel, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, you may consider making a memorial donation to Jeanette's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Hospital. It was also please her if you would go enjoy an Italian dinner in her honor with family and friends, and give a toast to a great lady. The family would like to thank Ten Broeck Commons for their care and dedication in the last months of her life. We were blessed to witness their funny bantor with Jeanette (who had a great sense of humor) and their careful dedication to her every need.
