Jeanette Bonestell, 81, of Catskill, NY, formerly of Kingston, NY passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY.
She was born on August 23, 1941 in Bronx, NY and was the daughter of the late Hans and Rose Schalm.
Jeanette was married to Richard Bonestell in March 1978. They were married for 2 years before he unfortunately passed away in March of 1980.
Jeanette worked for Mother's Nursing Home, Sleigthsburgh, NY, where she was a nurse. When the nursing home closed down, Jeannette retired from nursing. She volunteered as a firefighter for Connelly Fire Department for many years. She was very active in her community helping out at various food kitchens, food pantries and volunteering for People’s Place. One of her favorite things to do was talking on CB radio to local CBers in the Kingston area. Her handle was, “little turtle” inspired by her many figurine turtles.
She is survived by her son Steve Schalm, stepchildren, Richard and Marilyn Bonestell. Her brothers, Donald Schalm, Joey Schalm, Albert Profeta and her sister, Gerry Solmo. As well as her cousins, David and Donna Hynes. Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard Bonestell.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401 where family and friends may visit on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodstock Cemetery.
