Jean "Cookie" Zehnick

February 26, 1941 — December 5, 2017

Jean Vivian "Cookie" Zehnick, passed away on December 5, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family and dearest friends. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Short.
Jean known by her nickname "Cookie", was a lifetime resident of Sawkill in the Town of Kingston. She worked at Benedictine Hospital for 31 years. Cookie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Cookie loved to read and go shopping. She took great joy in the many family gatherings over the years. She was loved by everyone.
Cookie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John "Jack" Zehnick. They were married at St. Ann's Church in 1957. She is also survived by her 5 children, Joe Zehnick his wife Ada, Sherri Pape and her deceased husband Stephen Bailey, Terri "Poody" Carey her husband Jeff, John "Muds" Zehnick his wife Stephanie and Artie Zehnick his wife Judy. She is also survived by her brother Butch Short his wife Margaret and her sister Linda Short Paredes her husband Todd.

Cookie also had nine grandchildren, Amy and Michael Pape, Jessica and CJ Carey, Jade Shumen, Joey Zehnick, John Zehnick, Amanda Weiss, and Chloe Zehnick. She was a great grandmother to 8 and had many nieces and nephews.
Cookie had left a written note thanking her children and grandchildren telling them "I love you all." Her note had also expressed thanks to her best friends Pat Allen, Delores Banks, and Pat Russell, telling them "I love you a lot."

The family wants to extend a huge thank you to Margaret Short, for the care of Cookie in her last days and support for the family. Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Tuesday December 12th, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm.
