Jay L. Gottlieb

Jay L. Gottlieb of Allen Drive, Woodstock died in an automobile accident on Wednesday, November 9, 2005. He was 46. Jay was born in Queens on April 1, 1959, a son of Sidney and Helen Schwartz Gottlieb who reside in Roslyn, New York. Jay received a B.S., summa cum laude, from State University of New York at Albany in 1981; a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1984. A partner at Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner LLP in New York City, his areas of practice included Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy and Structured Finance. Jay was a member of the United States Bankruptcy Court Register of Mediators for the Southern District of New York, since 1984, where he mediated general commercial disputes as well as actions and proceedings arising under Title 11. He served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Pace University School of Law, where he taught a course on Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy. Among the articles he wrote on Creditors Rights, Bankruptcy and Structured Finance topics, several have been published in prominent professional journals. Formerly of Edgemont, Jay moved to Woodstock earlier this year. An avid sportsman, he coached soccer for his childrens' teams. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife of 23 years, Diane Gottlieb; his children Aaron, Rachel and Brian Gottlieb; his sisters Gail Soiefer of Edgemont and Kim Floam of Roslyn; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 12:00 at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston. Rabbi Jonathan Kliggler will officiate. Interment will be in the Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
