James W. "Bones", "Bubby" Folwell, Jr. of Elmendorf St., Kingston, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 72.
He was born May 27, 1936 in Kingston, a son of the late James and Mildred Conner Folwell, Sr.
He served in the Air Force from 1955 - 1959. On February 12, 1968 he was appointed Fire Alarm Electrician to the Kingston City Fire Dept. On December 31, 1996 he retired as the Fire Alarm Electrician.
He was a past president and lifetime member of the Lake Katrine Rod and Gun Club, Best Sportsman of 1977 and served on the pheasant committee. He coached and umpired for the Kingston American Little League and umpired in the Town of Ulster. He played softball in the City of Kingston for the Kingston Fire Dept. and was a past member of the Kingston Bowling Assoc.
Surviving is his wife, Arlene V. Winnie Folwell; two sons, Terry L. Folwell of Malden and Michael Folwell of Port Ewen; a daughter, Bethann Folwell of West Saugerties; two sisters, Sara Hart of Mechanicville and Lois Avery of Connelly; two brothers, Frederick Folwell of Kingston and Ronald Meyer of Florida. Four granddaughters, three grandsons and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A sister, Barbara Read Wiltshire died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Saturday from 2 - 4 PM. At 4:00 PM, funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Richard Mueller, chaplain of the City of Kingston Fire Department. Cremation will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
