James L. Lemyre, of Harwich St. died Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Kingston Hospital. He was 58.
He was born July 22, 1948 in Rockville Center, a son of James B. and Angelina C. Marra Lemyre.
A graduate of New Paltz College, he taught English for 35 years at Rondout Valley High School. He was a member of the New York State Teachers Assoc. and was a former president of the Rondout Valley Teachers Assoc. where he founded the teacher’s association newsletter, the Union Sound. He was a mentor for the WISE Task Force program at Rondout Valley High School. He was a member of the Kingston Umpires Association and umpired softball games for many years. He was also a member of the Coach House Players. He was a speaker for the Renal Support Network and the Diabetes Center in Kingston.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Saugerties are two sons, James of Seffner, FL and Daniel of Kalema, Wash.; a brother, Michael of Middleburgh; two grandsons, Ian and Nicholas Lemyre and two nephews, Michael and Bryan. Many cousins also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. The funeral procession will form on Thursday at 9:00 am from the funeral home and process to St. Mary of the Snow Church in Saugerties for a 10:00 am funeral Mass. Entombment will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
