James J. Carpino, 93, of Kingston, died Monday, January 12, 2015 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus.
Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Joseph & Theresa Carpino. James was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was the owner the Shamrock Tavern for over 50 years. He was fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Kingston Council #275. He loved gardening and smoking cigars. James is survived by his daughter, Diana M. LaFave and her husband Joseph of Long Neck, DE, a brother, Charles Carpino of Poughkeepsie and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Julia Guadagnolo Carpino, who passed in 2009 and his son, James R. Carpino, who passed in 1991.
James will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The VFW Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 will conduct their service at 7:15 PM and The Knights of Columbus, Kingston Council #275 will conduct their service at 7:30 PM. The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Saturday at 9:00 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church.
Interment, with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 Color Guard, will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
