Irene M. Fitzmorris, formerly of Wrentham Street, Kingston died Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. She was 91.
She was born in the Bronx on July 23, 1913, a daughter of the late William and Mary Grebienchenko Douthwaite.
For 25 years Mrs. Fitzmorris was the executive secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Bethpage, Long Island. She retired in 1978.
A longtime Kingston resident, Irene was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church and member of the Altar-Rosary Society. She was a former member of the Columbiettes, Kingston Hospital Auxiliary and area garden club.
Her husband, John V. Fitzmorris died October 12, 1979. One brother, Col. William Douthwaite, USAF and one sister Jean Walsh both died previously.
Surviving is her daughter, Mary Anne Whitman and her husband Sandy of Kingston; two granddaughters Katherine and Courtney Whitman; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, a Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church and interment in St. Mary's Cemetery will be announced on Sunday evening.
