Ingrid Orsland, born January 26, 1942 died peacefully on January 29, 2024 in Rhinebeck, NY. The daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Andreas and Alfhild Samsen, she was born and raised in Brooklyn where she met and married her husband of 55 years Ernst Orsland. The couple moved with their first two children to Shokan, NY in 1972 where their third child was born.
Ingrid worked for Rolls Royce in the city and left the workforce to raise her family. She returned to work later in life at Meredith’s Bread when it was a start-up company located in a neighbor’s home in Shokan. From there she went to Benedictine Hospital where she worked for 20 years and ran the scheduling department for radiology. Ingrid loved spending time with her family and caring for her grandson. Ingrid and Ernie also enjoyed spending considerable time at their lake house in the Adirondacks and they were both Golden Members of the Sons of Norway.
Ingrid is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sister, Janet Andreassen. Ingrid is survived by her daughters, Deborah Orsland of Tennessee, Cynthia and Michael Troeger of Shokan and Sharon Orsland-Lapp of West Hurley and her grandson David Troeger.
Friends and family will be received at Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401 on Sunday February 4, 2024 from 1pm to 4pm. A private burial will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Oceanview Cemetery in Staten Island. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Town of Olive Rescue Squad.
