Inez B. Wood

Inez Boice Wood, 97, formerly of Cottekill, NY, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Golden Hill Health Care Center in Kingston. She was born April 16, 1917 in Kingston, to the late George Boice and Nellie (Hoffman) Boice. She was married to Jack A. Wood, Jack passed away in 1969.

She graduated from Kingston High School in 1935 and then graduated from the Kingston Hospital School of Nursing. While her husband was stationed in Aberdeen, MD, during WWII, she worked at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. She later returned to Kingston and worked at Kingston Hospital in Obstetrics as a Registered Nurse before retiring in the 1970's. She was a faithful member of The Old Dutch Church in Kingston. Inez enjoyed gardening, her beloved pets, and helping out around the farm.

She is survived by her sons, John W. Wood and his wife Ellen of Essex Junction, VT, George A. Wood and his wife Sharon of West Shokan, her grandchildren, Amy Wilkes and her husband Jim of Potsdam, NY, Brian Wood and his wife Laura of Newton, MA, Michael Wood of Manhattan, NY, Mackenzie Turck, Alana Wood, and Jack Wood, all of West Shokan, her great grandchildren, Brandon and Jonathan Wilkes, her siblings, Stanley Boice of Sawkill, Freda Strokes of Sawkill, and Ellen Kirchner of Suring, WI, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her son, Lewis Wood, and her brothers, Charles, George, Paul, and Philip Boice.

Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where family and friends may visit on Monday May 12, 2014 from 11am to 2pm with the funeral service beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Friends of Old Dutch Church Restoration Fund, 272 Wall St., Kingston, NY 12401
