Ida Kaplan

Ida Kaplan of the Town of Ulster died Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Kingston Hospital. She was 84. Ida was born in the Bronx on January 8, 1921, a daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Yutkowitz Frankel. She moved to this area in 1949. For many years Ida delighted in being involved in the 'Foster Grandparent' program. She also served on the Board of Elections for the Town of Ulster. Her husband Saul Kaplan died March 11, 1994. One sister Mary Falickman and one brother Ben Frankel both died previously. Ida is survived by her daughter Madeline Onderchain and her husband Richard of Clifton Park, her son Jeffrey Mark Kaplan and his wife Mary of Franklin, New Hampshire; eight grandchildren Emily, Laura, Nate, Matthew, Abby, Sadie, Patrick and Zoe; one niece Florette; and a great niece Mindy. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 12:00 PM at Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Rabbi Tamar Crystal will officiate. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
