Ida A. Henry, of Broadway died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Kingston Hospital. She was 91.
A native and lifelong resident of Port Ewen, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Josephine Dazzo Coniglio.
For 43 years Mrs. Henry was the clerk and then Post Master of the Port Ewen Post Office. She belonged to the Retired Post Masters Assoc., the Federal Employees Retirement, National and Ulster County Chapter 461, National League of Post Masters. She was a member of the Ulster County Post Masters Association.
She was a former member of the Town of Esopus Seniors and the Kingston Professional Fire Fighters Association, Local 461, Ladies Auxilary.
A parishioner of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and member of the Women's Club, she was a member of the Post 150 – American Legion Ladies Auxilary and the Port Ewen Fire Department Ladies Auxilary. She belonged to A.A.R.P.
Her husband Robert J. Henry died July 9, 1979. Four sisters Mary Dempsey, Veronica Corcoran, Frances Prusack and Lucy J. Perry and one brother John Coniglio all died previously.
Loving mother of Robert J. Henry and his wife Nancy, grandmother of Robert G. Henry and Marnie Jean Henry; sister of June Griggs and the late Mary Dempsey, Veronica Corcoran, Lucy J. Perry, Frances Prusack and John Coniglio. Several great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday from 3:00 -8:00 PM. The funeral procession will form on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Presentation Church at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
