Hyman Greenspan, a lifelong resident of Kingston, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at the age of 91.
Born October 27, 1922 to the late Benjamin and Anna Sklar Greenspan, Hy was a devoted son and brother.
He served in the military in World War II. Humble and modest in spite of his numerous achievements, Hy's entrepreneurial endeavors led him to become one of the founders of Miron Building Products. He was a giving and loving man who enjoyed spending time with his family; his other interests included boating as well as breeding and racing thoroughbreds. A member of Congregation Ahavath Israel for more than 65 years, an active supporter of Marist College, and a contributor to many local charities, Hy will forever be remembered for his kind nature and generous spirit. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Hy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elaine Brown Greenspan, and his three children: Toby Greenspan Zneimer of Vail, CO; Mark (Lynn Petersburg) Greenspan of Washington, D.C.; and Alan Greenspan of London, England. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Randie (Larry) Berman of Philadelphia, PA and Gary (Cindi) Koch of Tampa, FL; six loving grandchildren; and three nieces.
In addition to his parents, Hy was preceded in death by his two brothers, Louis Greenspan and Samuel Greenspan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Congregation Ahavath Israel; Cantor Devorah Gartner will officiate.
Entombment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
